It is important for every newcomer to be aware that not all citizens of Entropia are trustworthy. In fact, there are some who will do anything they can to con you out of a couple of PEDs. So here it is...the common scams thread. Anyone who can think of a common scam, feel free to post it...I'll start off with a couple of them:

1) Armor cannot be colored, or upgraded by a crafter. The only way to upgrade your armor is to buy new, stronger armor.

2) DO NOT LOAN ITEMS.  "Can I borrow your armor?"   MindArk's stance on ALL trades is: "All trades are final." If you give something to somebody in EU, they are in no way obligated to give it back to you, as the trade is final. There is no official lending system in place, and it is recommended that you do not loan items out to anybody. Soc mates and even those who you think of as in-game friends are no exceptions to this rule either...some savvy scammers will go through a lot of trouble to try to get you to trust them.

3) "Will you be my mentor?" There are some fake noobs out there who will ask you to mentor them, then either hope you give them free items or ask you for free items. As soon as you give them an opallo or set of pixie or a little bit of ammo...they kick you as their mentor and move on to someone else.

Let's get this thread rolling to help prevent any of our Cadets from being scammed Clap

The ESI Scam

I've had enuff of this shite game and I'm chipping out - if you give me an xxx size esi i will chip my skills onto it, and you can have the chip back for free/dirt cheap.

Sounds too good to be true? Well it is, you will hand over the esi and the scammer will have it on auction before you can say 'will that unlock rda for me?'.

How to aviod the above scenario

NEVER!!!!!!!!EVER!!!!!!!!NEVER!!!!!!!! Give/Lend/Entrust items without collatoral.

BTW im at 166 hp now  Tounge

Account Hacked

I cant log on to my account,it says im already logged on, and my mates on vent say im in twin dropping my stuff on the floor!!!!!! Help!!!!!!!

You've been hacked. There's a plethora of ways this is done, but I think the two most common ones are thus:

1: You have joined an eu community website and used the same login details for the website as you do your eu account. The hacker has grabbed your login and pw from the site (using his big nasty hacker tool) and logged into eu on your account while you were asleep, cleaning your ava of all its goodies.

Didnt get caught out by the above? Well read on.

2: You have joined an eu community website and been sensible enough to use a different login and pw to your eu account. The hacker tried the website login details on your eu account and failed, but now he is pissed. He grabs your email addy from the website and sends you a keylogger via email, camaflaged as a picture of some hot totty with her buns out. You check your mails, just b4 u log onto eu and see a weird one addressed to your in game name saying 'look at this m8!' You click on the email to open it, realising as you do that there is a picture of some poor buggers misguided daughter with her tshirt off and close it immediately banishing the frisky maiden to your recycle bin. But the damage has been done and you dont realise it-yet. You then log onto eu and forget the whole sorry saga. Unfortunately for you, the next day you log in your poor ava is standing a thousand miles away from where u left him, wearing only his white pants and your best m8's in game are pm'ing asking when your gonna give back the imk2 & mod fap you borrowed the night before. Oh crap you think to yourself. The hacker got your pw and login from the keylogger he sent you in the email, and wen you logged out, he logged in, and used your ava for the most horrendous things that you could possibly imagine. you now owe all your mates for the stuff the hacker 'borrowed', and theres a huge list of people pmin you about stuff you've no clue about. The ava has no skills left, no items left and your storage is empty of everything except a huge pile of dung that wasnt there before.

How to avoid the above Scenario

Buy a Gold Card from the TT.

The Confidence Scam(Or Trust Scam)

Youve just joined eu. You run around pa and bump into someone in oj's just like you, and you get chatting with each other. He says he has been playing for a few days, and kinda knows the ropes. He gives you an opallo from the tt, saying 'try it out, its the perfect rifle for beginners, and no m8, i dont need collatoral, i trust you, i kno ill get it back.' You put each other on FL and, the very next day when u log on, u pm him and give back the opallo he gave you. you've depo'd now and can afford your own. over the next few months you hunt and play together, getting to know each other really well. You think he is a great guy, and he is so generous to you, he even gives you peds if your ever short, and lends you his things if he can.  A year goes by, and you both have skilled your ava's to medium lvl. You buy a nice armour and gun, and a shiny expensive fap. So does your bestest buddy in eu, altho you cant work out where he bought it all from, cos you had actually been looking for that exact gun for ages for yourself. So now your both Uber Noobers, altho his stuff is just different from yours, and you both go hunting together still, every day almost, lending each other your armours, and guns and faps from time to time. You always get everything back, and obviously so does he. One day your mate pm's you and asks to borrow your armour, the one he has borrowed 30 times before. Of course m8 you say. Next day he pm's you saying 'great armour bro, as always, but i need a litle extra firepower for this event cos i find i cant shoot as much as jonny uber with my uber eco gun, i need your uber powerful one instead. Oh, and that fap of yours, it does more heal than mine could i borrow it as well? you will have them back in 1 hour after the event.'  'Of course you can m8, ive lent to you 100 times before, and you know you can borro them anytime you want' you say. So you lend him everything you have thats worth a complete bundle.

Some months down the line you see your ex buddy at pa. You havent seen him in months. He never answered any of your pm's, he never replies to your emails, the phone number he gave you doesnt work any more and youve never seen even a glimmer of your stuff since lending it all to him 6 months previously. Your ex buddy is running around in oj's, with another oj just off the ship with him. you overhear the conversation. its your ex buddy saying to the oj he is with, 'Ive been playing for a few days, and kinda know the ropes. Ill give you this opallo from the tt, try it out, its the perfect rifle for beginners, and no m8, i dont need collatoral, i trust you, i kno ill get it back. come over here and put me on your fl'

How to aviod the above scenario

NEVER!!!!!!!!EVER!!!!!!!!NEVER!!!!!!!! Give/Lend/Entrust items without collatoral.
