The land grab, anticipated by Ice and Lance, is finally on. It's what we were so earnestly engaged in skilling for in the senior soc. It is very much the point of a lot of previous effort. Are we good enough?

Turns out to be a rotten time to lose Gumbi and friedd0g, but maybe we are good enough with the addition of some of our new recruits.

There are several members of the Cadets, apart from those who went to the cadets from MM, who have skills in excess of 50k. It is understandable and good that many feel at home in the cadets, with the camaraderie that has developed, but now is the time you are needed by MM senior.

The stakes are high, and frankly, it wil be tough, but if we are determined, plan properly, and execute thoroughly, we may be able to pull it off.

My initial feeling is that we may not be ready, but I have to say that determination can be a big factor, combined with a little luck, me may be able to stake a claim and pull something like this off.  I wonder what the exact rules might be like.

OMG have they finally scheduled one???  It's about time, I thought that they had abandoned the idea altogether  lol   Clap Clap Clap

It's quite unlikely that we will be ready for this one, but you never know what may happen from now till then. From the last one, I can tell you what we'll be up against:

ubers with over 200k skills in full eon, shadow, and supremacy, along with the new limited armors now, and carrying mod mercinaries, Justifier IMK II, anceint adj MK V, and other incredibly awesome weapons...and all not one-on-one, but groups of them. Think Warants, Desert Rangers, etc.

Yep - I don't have illusions about that Ice, but here's an interesting thing - while Warants are holding their (first) LA for 4 hours, we will be holding ours, so they will be busy  Smile

I know, I know, I'm kidding myself lol Plenty of other socs to take it from us - and just one of those guys would be sufficient to account for all of us probably (Tere-baby would get in a couple shots  Smile)

I agree that we are not ready, but it will be a great event to participate in, and an excellent experience

PS: If one soc ends up with 2 or more of the new LA's as could easily happen, I think there could rightly be a major whine from most other players - I hope the rules prevent this (not the whining, but the multi-claiming)

The rules did not prevent this in previous land grabs. As I recall, CK owned a few of the land areas last time, as well as desert rangers.  The rules may have changed a bit this time though, so we won't know 'till they release the rules  Smile

Count me in!  This sounds like some pretty serious competition.  We will have to do some planning if we want to be serious competitors.  I have to admit, my pvp skills aren't the best...  Maybe we should start practicing at the rig or something.  Practice makes perfect (or atleast 'better'.)

Sounds like fun Monk, we could all go to PvP & take over the oil rig, or go PvP 3 or 4 to up the stakes a bit, or we could just to to a zone and practice by killing each other  lol   Clap Maybe split off into 2 teams of nearly equal skill levels and go to PvP 1, one team starts at N outpost, one at E outpost & meet in the middle to kill each other.  Evil

Oil rig sounds fun though, with the least amount of risk, and will let us build on team skills as much as PvP skills.

a soc can only have hold of 1 LA at a time!  Clap i was thinking that if there are to many mm members to kill they will get killed first.  all OJs can help!  if we have a bunch of newbs standing around, there will be so many to kill that the invaders will get killed first...  Bang

Depends on equipment too...even if we have 50 members shooting, if we're only doing 1 dmg per shot against someone's plated Eon, and the person being shot at has a mod fap and there's another guy right behind him with a terminator...there's still not much of a chance really  Wink

nope, it wont work, becouse in 2005 during LandGrab... Poland attacked Warants...noone of them get closer than 100m, I had alot of laugh @ them when I was at my friend's hause and he was supporting Warants

But... I just got home from class & got a chance to read the rules...some rules of the land grab have changed since the last one, and some of those changes may be to our benefit...even if only slightly so.

It also depends on if they break it up like they did the last time too....if anyone remembers there were 2 separate rounds altogether for the last land grab. They only opened up half of the available land areas for the first round, then the other half for the second round, which meant fewer land areas to compete for at once...and an easier opportunity for some of the societies to grab up an extra land area or two.

Quote
The preliminary rules and regulations of the land grab:

1. Any designated land grab area can be claimed by any functioning, non-pending, society. (Note that it takes seven days go get a society into a qualified state).

Check.

Quote
2. Any person within a society can claim a piece of land in the name of the whole society. The land is claimed by finding a 'claim stake' for a certain piece of land. Click on the stake and follow the instructions presented.

may be beneficial to send out individuals to separate land areas as scouts to see which lands are open & which ones, if any, we may have a fighting chance at claiming.

Quote
3. The land has to be successfully defended for four consecutive hours before the ownership of the land is turned over to the society.

and if the claim is lost before the four hours is up...the counter starts over again. These battles can take hours upon hours, possibly lasting over 24 hours.

Quote
4. Defence of the land is achieved in the following manner: At least one member of the society will have to be alive and present within a radius of 30 meters from the claim stake at all times from when the land is claimed until the full time period has elapsed. If all Society members have exited the radius, the stake will emit a warning signal (sound and light) for a limited period of time. This is a short grace period of app. 30 seconds, during which any living society member has to get inside the radius; else the claim for the land will be lost. This enables another society, or the same society for that matter, to take new ownership of the land claiming process.

I believe this is a bit different from the last time. If I remember right, the land markers only had to be clicked to claim them. I remember a dispute over one soc using auto-clickers set to click at an interval of one-tenth of a second so that nobody else could click the land marker.

Quote
5. Anyone killed within a certain range from the claim stake during the land grab will be out of commission for one minute before the revival process is initiated. The only way to speed this process is to be resurrected using MindForce.

Ouch. Whatever you do, don't die. Grace period is 30 seconds, revival time is one minute, not counting time to run/tp back.

Quote
6. A single society may only have one piece of land within a claiming process at a time.

So if they open all the land areas at once, and the battles for the most-wanted lands last for a long time, then that opens up opportunities for more societies to fight for land.

The current rules are pending and are subject to change

lol I give it a week before they start changing the rules  Tounge

Well, I'm one of the noobs.  I say, what can we lose?  I don't have much to offer but will give as much as I can.  I'm also not afraid to spend a little money if you guys can give me ideas what items will benefit the team the most in this Land Grab thing...and yes, lets set up some time to plan our attack.  I have no skill in pvp

Also, let's put on a strong recruitment effort right now to see if we can increase our chances of bringing on some more talent.

Let's go get some DIRT!

 Way to go

If only i knew how i became invisible the other day lol. completely invisible, no green dot on radar, no muzzle flash, you couldnt see my bombs being dropped or my grenade launchers rockets wizzing by your heads. I didnt abuse this lol, in fact i sent a support case immediately i realised i was invisible - MA replied saying dont worry they know about the bug but unfortunately they dont know how it is caused and cant fix it at the moment - and told me to play on regardless basicly!

It didnt fix itself by logging, tp'in or dancing around my bedroom with my pants on my head.

But when i logged in 24hours later you could see me again. Weird eh.
