This story is being submitted as the fifth in a series of monthly articles about the Michigan Militia Cadets. (July, 2009)Independence DayRecently, we celebrated Independence Day.
Yes, in the United States of America, we as a country blew off a bunch of fireworks and celebrated our "freedoms"... but that's not what this article is about.
I think of Independence Day as the day a disciple graduates from mentorship.
Recently, one of our own MMC members earned enough skill to official "graduate" from mentorship. Although this individual wasn't technically my disciple, I still had a sense of pride knowing that through weeks of ingame questions and online research, they had learned enough to become self-sufficient... independent, if you will.
An interesting concept is that the ultimate goal of any teacher is to educate a student to the point where the teacher is no longer needed. However, that does not mean the learning is over for the student. Learning is a lifelong process, and continual journey that never really ends. Such is Entropia... the ever-changing dynamics of this game demand that successful players continually adapt and learn within the game.
Gaining a solid foundation of knowledge about the game mechanics, equipment, and economy allows a graduating disciple to spread their wings and fly with confidence.
Happy Independence Day.
