Why won't the game load?

Hey all!

After my typical busy summer/fall hiatus, I am back in hibernation mode ready to play Entropia.  Only problem is, I can't get the game to load!

I finally upgraded my memory (2.5 gig now) and my video card is still ok, system check is green for go saying I meet all system requirements on the load page.

Every time I try to connect, it says there was an error...
Any pointers?

Hi Chrome. Is that the error after name and password, before Security Code? I get that one - a connection problem - all the time.

When I did a search on Entropia Forum for "game update problem" I found a thread which had a link to the Entropia Planets site... seems like a "sister site" to EF.

Not really. 

I got back in last week, and was having concerns because my video card is older... I was only able to run the game on "medium" graphics setting with particle and shadows turned to low... graphis were decent enough, I could see clothing and tectures just fine without too much loss in game speed.  Any graphics setting higher than this however, and the game became waaaaaaaaay too slow (although the clothes, water, and scenery looked AWESOME!!!)

In MindArk's infinite wisdom, after Wednesday's update I suddenly can see nothing but grey avatars, regardless of the graphics setting.  I don't think anything is wrong with the card, everything else with my computer seems fine.  I've tried updating drivers (fine), removed some crap from my harddrive to open up some memory space (I have at least 12Gig unused), nothing fixes this graphics issue.

Unfortunately, I'm not willing to buy a new GC just for Entropia, as I already forked out $150 just to upgrade my computer memory to meet the minimum game requirements... and yes, my graphics card is listed as meeting the requirements to run the game, it friggin' worked JUST FINE last week.

I'm pretty pissed.
