Chronicles of Chrome: Mining Memoirs  (Read 663 times)
Michigan Militia News
Chronicles of Chrome:  Mining Memoirs

After reading so many ?blogs? about mining, I have decided to start one myself.  Hopefully for new and experienced Michigan Militia members alike, this series will be entertaining as well as educational.

There will be a few differences between this mining ?journal? and others you may subscribe to.  The biggest difference is, I'm not really a miner.  Oh sure, I have dabbled a bit with mining over the past couple of years, but my overall mining ability (non-chipped) is really quite low...

469 - Drilling
291 - Geology
274 - Mining
283 - Prospecting
426 - Surveying

I will keep minimal data about the mining itself.  I plan to use 20 probes (10 ped) and 20 bombs (20 ped) on each short-run excursion.

For finders, I am currently using ones maxed for my ability:  Ju55(L) for enmatter,  Z10(L) for ore

Extraction will be done with TT equipment.

No amps or enhancers will be used.

I will document the total hit rate percentage, list the materials found, and provide a general indication of profit in blue and loss in red.

I will not be tracking equipment decay, analyzing total ped spent vs. ped earned, producing detailed charts and graphs, or determining how much I move Calypso off its rotational axis every time I use a bomb.

I hope to mine a couple times a week, so if you do subscribe please don't expect this to be a daily activity log.  Selection of an area to mine will depend on the following criteria:

  • How diverse and interesting the terrain is
  • What mobs are in the area (Since I'll be solo, I won't mine where I can't get to the claims)
  • What resources I have an interest in trying to discover, if at all possible

Lastly, the most entertaining aspect of this project will be how the actual mining is done.  The locations where probes and bombs are dropped will not be determined by a computer program, by labor-intensive documentation of grid plotting, or by any other theoretical means...

My 5 year-old son will be sitting on my lap, making all the decisions, releasing the probes/bombs, and doing the extraction of any resources found.

Awesome! Mining blogs are fun.  Clap  May you strike a large enough lyst to make it just under the tower mark (to fill your ped card and keep the son occupied for awhile)  lol  Then, after that HoF, walk another 50 meters and strike a tower.  Grin
